COVID-19 Impact on Students
2020-11-03 03:11:57
The first COVID-19 case in Cambodia was reported on January 27, 2020. Since the first infection was detected, the Royal Government of Cambodia has moved swiftly to issue regulations and guidelines to curb the spread of COVID-19 and the negative impacts it brings to the people and the economy. Despite these measures, scores of Cambodians are still struggling to make their living and adapt to ‘the new normal’. This is especially the case for a lot of students across the country. The introduction of online learning (e-learning) to the traditional education system, coupled with the full blow that the pandemic has on their daily lives, has imposed tremendous pressure on the students and the people surrounding them, e.g. their parents. The impact can be found from the declining effectiveness of their education to their struggles to fulfilling the basic needs of their families. The report below contains a comprehensive analysis of the problems facing Cambodian students and their guardians and parents during the COVID-19 pandemic, and students’ recommendations to the Ministry of Education, Youth, and Sports and the government at large. Our report (English version) is available for download in the link down below. The Khmer version is to be released soon.
